CapitalBox provides DPIIT Startup Recognition Facilitation Services to assist eligible businesses with eligibility assessment, application drafting, and coordination with the Startup India / DPIIT portal for recognition under Gazette Notification G.S.R. 108(E) dated 4 February 2026.
Service Facilitation Fee
₹7,000 + GST
One-time, paid at the start of the application
DPIIT Government Fee
₹0
DPIIT recognition itself carries no government fee
CapitalBox acts solely as a facilitator and consultant to assist customers in applying for DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) Startup Recognition under the Startup India initiative. CapitalBox is not DPIIT, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, or any other government authority, and does not itself grant, approve, or reject startup recognition.
The role of CapitalBox is limited to assessing the customer's eligibility, preparing and organising the required documentation, drafting the application write-up, and submitting and tracking the application on the Startup India portal on the customer's behalf. Engaging CapitalBox's services does not guarantee that DPIIT recognition will be granted; the final decision rests solely with DPIIT.
2Service Facilitation Fee
The service facilitation fee of ₹7,000 + GST is payable at the time the customer initiates the DPIIT recognition process, before the application is prepared and submitted on the Startup India portal. This is a one-time, non-refundable professional fee that covers the work undertaken by CapitalBox regardless of the eventual outcome of the application.
The fee specifically covers:
Eligibility assessment, to confirm the entity type, age, turnover, and innovation criteria against the current DPIIT framework
Document guidance, including a checklist and review of incorporation, KYC, and business documents
Drafting support for the business description, innovation narrative, and scalability write-up required on the portal
Application preparation and submission on the Startup India / DPIIT portal
Coordination and follow-up with DPIIT until a recognition number, query, or rejection is received
DPIIT itself does not charge any government fee for startup recognition. The ₹7,000 + GST charged by CapitalBox is a professional facilitation fee for the advisory, drafting and coordination work performed, and is payable irrespective of whether recognition is subsequently granted or rejected.
3Eligibility for DPIIT Recognition
Under the current DPIIT framework (Gazette Notification G.S.R. 108(E) dated 4 February 2026), an entity is generally eligible for startup recognition if it meets the following broad conditions. CapitalBox will confirm exact eligibility for the customer's specific case as part of the service.
Incorporated or registered in India as a Private Limited Company, LLP, Registered Partnership Firm, or Cooperative Society
Less than 10 years old from the date of incorporation (up to 20 years for entities qualifying as Deep Tech Startups)
Annual turnover not exceeding ₹200 crore in any financial year since incorporation (₹300 crore for Deep Tech Startups)
Working towards innovation, development or improvement of products, services or processes, or a scalable business model with potential for employment or wealth creation
Not formed by splitting up or reconstructing an already existing business
Eligibility criteria are set and revised by DPIIT from time to time and are applied at DPIIT's sole discretion at the time of review. CapitalBox will advise the customer based on the framework in force at the time of application, but cannot guarantee that a given entity will be found eligible or that recognition will be granted.
4Refund & Cancellation
The Service Facilitation Fee is non-refundable once the application has been initiated and processing has commenced, as it represents the cost of advisory, drafting and coordination work already rendered by CapitalBox, irrespective of the final recognition decision by DPIIT.
If a customer wishes to withdraw before the application has been submitted on the Startup India portal, they may request cancellation in writing; any refund in such cases, if applicable, shall be at the sole discretion of CapitalBox and may be subject to a deduction towards work already performed.
5Important Information
CapitalBox is a startup registration facilitation and consultancy service provider and does not itself grant DPIIT recognition. All recognition decisions rest exclusively with DPIIT, based on its own review of the application, eligibility criteria, and innovation assessment.
Grant of DPIIT recognition, its category (including Deep Tech classification), and downstream benefits such as Section 80-IAC tax exemption, angel tax exemption, or IPR fee rebates are determined solely by DPIIT and, where applicable, the Inter-Ministerial Board (IMB) or other competent authority. CapitalBox has no control over, and makes no assurance regarding, these outcomes.
DPIIT recognition is also not permanent — it remains valid only as long as the entity continues to meet the applicable eligibility criteria (age, turnover and other conditions), and may lapse or be revoked if these are exceeded or found to be misrepresented.
6Customer Responsibilities
The customer is responsible for providing accurate, complete and truthful information and documentation for the purpose of the DPIIT recognition application, including an honest description of the business's innovation and scalability. CapitalBox relies on the information provided by the customer and is not responsible for any delay, query, rejection, or revocation of recognition arising from incomplete, incorrect, or misleading information or documents furnished by the customer.
The customer is also responsible for continuing to monitor and comply with the eligibility conditions (age, turnover, entity structure) after recognition is granted, and for independently applying for any downstream benefit (such as 80-IAC tax exemption) through the relevant authority.
7Data & Privacy
Personal, business and financial information shared by the customer will be used by CapitalBox solely for the purpose of processing the DPIIT recognition facilitation request and may be entered on the Startup India / DPIIT portal as necessary to process the application. CapitalBox takes reasonable measures to protect customer data in accordance with applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
8Limitation of Liability
CapitalBox shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or claim arising from the rejection, delay, deferral, or subsequent revocation of DPIIT recognition, changes in DPIIT's eligibility framework or policy, or any act or omission of DPIIT or any other government authority. CapitalBox's liability, where applicable, shall in no event exceed the amount of fees actually paid by the customer to CapitalBox for the specific service in question.
9Fair Practices Code
CapitalBox commits to the following standards while assisting customers with their DPIIT startup recognition applications:
All fees, charges and the basis of calculation are disclosed upfront, in writing, before the customer makes any payment
No customer is pressured or misled into believing that recognition is guaranteed or automatic
Customer information is used only for the purpose of the recognition application and is not sold or shared for unrelated marketing purposes
Genuine complaints are acknowledged and addressed within a reasonable and communicated timeframe
Communication with customers is conducted in clear, simple language, avoiding misleading claims about approval chances, category (including Deep Tech classification), or processing timelines
This Code reflects CapitalBox's own service commitment as a facilitator and does not substitute or bind DPIIT, which operates under its own government process and timelines.
10Grievance Redressal
In case of any concern, complaint, or dispute relating to the services rendered by CapitalBox, customers may raise the matter through the official contact channels provided by CapitalBox. CapitalBox will endeavour to acknowledge and address genuine grievances within a reasonable timeframe. Grievances relating to the DPIIT recognition decision itself should be raised directly with DPIIT / Startup India through the official portal.
11Legal Compliance & Governing Law
Services are provided under, and this document is governed by, applicable Indian laws. The relevance of each law to CapitalBox's DPIIT startup registration facilitation services is explained below:
Indian Contract Act, 1872
Governs the contractual relationship between CapitalBox and the customer. It applies because the moment a customer pays the Service Facilitation Fee and agrees to these terms, a valid contract is formed — this Act defines how that agreement is made, what makes it enforceable, and what happens if either party fails to honour its obligations (breach of contract).
Applies because the customer is availing a paid service (registration facilitation) from CapitalBox, making them a "consumer" under law. This Act protects customers against unfair trade practices, misleading claims about approval chances, and deficiency in service, and gives them the right to approach a Consumer Forum if the facilitation service is not delivered as promised.
Applies because the entire application process — form filling, document upload, digital communication, portal submission, and online fee payment — happens electronically. This Act gives legal recognition to electronic records, digital signatures, and online transactions, and governs matters like data security, unauthorized access, and electronic contract validity.
Applies because CapitalBox collects and processes sensitive personal and business data of the customer (PAN, incorporation details, director/partner KYC, financials) for entry on the Startup India / DPIIT portal. This Act regulates how such personal data must be collected, used, stored, and protected, and requires CapitalBox to obtain consent and safeguard the data against misuse.
Applies because DPIIT recognition can only be sought by an entity validly incorporated under one of these Acts (Private Limited Company, LLP, or Registered Partnership Firm respectively). While CapitalBox does not itself carry out entity incorporation as part of this service, eligibility for DPIIT recognition is directly tied to the entity's valid registration under the relevant Act.
DPIIT Gazette Notification G.S.R. 108(E), dated 4 February 2026
This is the primary notification under which DPIIT grants startup recognition, defining eligibility criteria (entity type, age, turnover), the Deep Tech Startup category, and the recognition and revocation process. This notification, and any subsequent DPIIT circulars or amendments, governs the substantive outcome of the application submitted on the customer's behalf.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at the location of CapitalBox's registered place of business.
12Amendments to These Terms
CapitalBox reserves the right to update or modify these terms, fees, or the scope of services at any time, including to reflect changes in DPIIT's eligibility framework. Any material changes will be communicated through the website or other official channels, and continued use of the services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13Customer Acknowledgement
By applying for services, the customer confirms that they have read and understood these terms, agrees to the applicable fees, terms and conditions set out above, and authorizes CapitalBox to assist with, and coordinate, the DPIIT startup recognition process on their behalf.
