What Is ZED

A National Push For Zero Defect, Zero Effect Manufacturing

ZED Certification is a Ministry of MSME initiative that helps Indian MSMEs build globally competitive, sustainable operations — products with zero defects and zero negative impact on the environment.

It's structured as a clear improvement ladder. Every MSME takes the ZED Pledge, gets assessed against quality, energy, environment and process parameters, and is rated Bronze, Silver or Gold based on performance.

FAQ

ZED Certification Questions Answered

Who is eligible for ZED Certification?+
Any MSME with a valid Udyam Registration Number can apply — manufacturing and service enterprises alike, provided they commit to ZED's quality and sustainability standards.
How much does ZED Certification cost?+
Certification fees vary by level. Most MSMEs receive 50–80% subsidy based on enterprise size, plus a ₹10,000 joining reward that can offset the Bronze level fee almost entirely.
Which level should I apply for first?+
Most MSMEs start at Bronze and upgrade to Silver or Gold over time. CapitalBox assesses your current processes and recommends the right starting level.
How long does the certification process take?+
Timelines depend on documentation readiness and assessment scheduling. Our team works to keep your application moving at every stage — pledge, desktop assessment and site visit.
Can I upgrade my certification level later?+
Yes. MSMEs can upgrade their certification level any time before their existing certificate expires, and the subsidy structure applies to the new level as well.
