CapitalBox provides Import Export Code (IEC) Registration Facilitation Services, including eligibility guidance, documentation support, and online application filing with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on behalf of the customer.
Service Fee
₹10,000 + GST
CapitalBox's professional consultancy and facilitation charges, paid at the start of the engagement
Government (DGFT) Fee
Extra
The DGFT application fee is charged separately, at actuals, over and above the Service Fee
CapitalBox acts as a consultancy and facilitation service to assist individuals and businesses in obtaining an Import Export Code (IEC) — a mandatory 10-digit code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for undertaking import or export of goods and services from India. CapitalBox is not a Government authority and does not itself grant, issue, or approve the IEC.
The role of CapitalBox is limited to eligibility guidance, preparing and organising the required documentation, filing the online application on the DGFT portal on the customer's behalf, and coordinating with DGFT until the IEC is issued. Engaging CapitalBox's services does not guarantee a specific processing timeline, as this depends on DGFT's own verification and processing systems.
2Service Fee
The Service Fee of ₹10,000 + GST is payable at the time the customer initiates the IEC registration process, before filing commences. This is CapitalBox's professional consultancy and facilitation charge for preparing and submitting the application.
The DGFT Government fee for IEC application is charged separately, at actuals, over and above the Service Fee, and is payable in addition before the application is submitted. CapitalBox will inform the customer of the applicable Government fee upfront, before payment is collected.
3What the Fee Covers
The Service Fee specifically covers:
Eligibility guidance and pre-application review of the customer's business details
Document collection and verification, including review of PAN, Aadhaar, address proof and bank details
Preparation and filing of the online IEC application (Form ANF-2A) on the DGFT portal
Coordination with DGFT for query resolution and application tracking
Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) coordination, where required for the application
Post-issuance support, including guidance on the mandatory annual IEC update on the DGFT portal
4Refund & Cancellation
The Service Fee is non-refundable once the engagement has been initiated and document preparation or filing has commenced, as it represents the cost of services already rendered by CapitalBox. The Government (DGFT) fee, once paid to DGFT, is governed entirely by DGFT's own refund policy and is not refundable by CapitalBox under any circumstances.
If a customer wishes to withdraw before any application has been submitted to DGFT, they may request cancellation in writing; any refund of the Service Fee in such cases, if applicable, shall be at the sole discretion of CapitalBox and may be subject to a deduction towards work already performed.
5Important Information
CapitalBox is a registration facilitation and consultancy service provider and does not itself issue the IEC. All approvals rest exclusively with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), based on their own internal verification process, including validation of PAN and bank details.
Final approval and issuance of the IEC are determined solely by DGFT. CapitalBox has no control over, and makes no assurance regarding, exact processing dates, though typical timelines are shared for guidance (IEC is generally issued within 1–2 working days of successful PAN and bank validation, once the application is duly filed).
Customers are advised to independently verify the IEC certificate issued by DGFT once received, and to note that the IEC requires a mandatory annual update on the DGFT portal between April and June every year to remain active, even if there is no change in details.
6Customer Responsibilities
The customer is responsible for providing accurate, complete and truthful information and documentation for the purpose of registration, including PAN, Aadhaar, address proof and bank account details. CapitalBox relies on the information provided by the customer and is not responsible for any delay, rejection, or discrepancy arising from incomplete, incorrect, or misleading information or documents furnished by the customer.
The customer is also responsible for reviewing the IEC certificate issued by DGFT once received, completing the mandatory annual IEC update on time each year, and promptly informing CapitalBox of any discrepancy for correction.
7Data & Privacy
Personal and business information shared by the customer will be used by CapitalBox solely for the purpose of processing the IEC registration request and will be submitted to the DGFT portal as necessary to complete the registration. CapitalBox takes reasonable measures to protect customer data in accordance with applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
8Limitation of Liability
CapitalBox shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or claim arising from delay in DGFT processing, rejection of an application due to incorrect information supplied by the customer, changes in DGFT policy or fee structure, or any act or omission of DGFT or any other Government authority. CapitalBox's liability, where applicable, shall in no event exceed the amount of the Service Fee actually paid by the customer to CapitalBox for this service, and shall not extend to the Government fee paid directly to DGFT.
9Fair Practices Code
CapitalBox commits to the following standards while assisting customers with IEC registration:
The Service Fee and the applicable Government (DGFT) fee are disclosed separately and upfront, in writing, before the customer makes any payment
No customer is misled about the mandatory or optional nature of the IEC, or about approval timelines
Customer information is used only for the purpose of registration facilitation and is not sold or shared for unrelated marketing purposes
Genuine complaints are acknowledged and addressed within a reasonable and communicated timeframe
Communication with customers is conducted in clear, simple language, avoiding misleading claims about processing speed or benefits
This Code reflects CapitalBox's own service commitment as a facilitator. It does not substitute any statutory obligation that DGFT or any other Government authority is independently required to follow.
10Grievance Redressal
In case of any concern, complaint, or dispute relating to the services rendered by CapitalBox, customers may raise the matter through the official contact channels provided by CapitalBox. CapitalBox will endeavour to acknowledge and address genuine grievances within a reasonable timeframe.
11Legal Compliance & Governing Law
Services are provided under, and this document is governed by, applicable Indian laws. The relevance of each law to CapitalBox's IEC registration facilitation services is explained below:
Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992
Applies directly because the IEC itself is issued under this Act's framework, which empowers DGFT to regulate and facilitate India's foreign trade. This Act is why an IEC is legally mandatory before a business can import or export goods or services commercially from India, and it governs the powers of DGFT to issue, suspend, or cancel an IEC.
Governs the contractual relationship between CapitalBox and the customer. It applies because the moment a customer pays the Service Fee and agrees to these terms, a valid contract is formed — this Act defines how that agreement is made, what makes it enforceable, and what happens if either party fails to honour its obligations (breach of contract).
Applies because the customer is availing a paid service (registration facilitation) from CapitalBox, making them a "consumer" under law. This Act protects customers against unfair trade practices, misleading claims about services, and deficiency in service, and gives them the right to approach a Consumer Forum if the facilitation service is not delivered as promised.
Applies because the entire IEC process — document upload, PAN and bank validation, online filing on the DGFT portal, digital communication, and online fee payment — happens electronically. This Act gives legal recognition to electronic records, digital signatures, and online transactions, and governs matters like data security, unauthorized access, and electronic contract validity.
Applies because CapitalBox collects and processes sensitive personal data of the customer (PAN, Aadhaar, address proof, bank details) for filing with the DGFT portal. This Act regulates how such personal data must be collected, used, stored, and protected, and requires CapitalBox to obtain consent and safeguard the data against misuse.
Applies because customs authorities require a valid IEC to clear goods for import or export at Indian ports and airports. This Act governs customs clearance procedures for cross-border shipments, and is why the IEC becomes operationally necessary once the customer begins actual import or export activity.
Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 & Foreign Trade Policy (FTP)
Applies because GST registration and compliance run alongside import-export activity, and because the current Foreign Trade Policy notified under the FT (D&R) Act, 1992 governs export incentive schemes, restricted/prohibited item lists, and periodic updates to IEC-linked compliance requirements such as the annual IEC update.
Applies because the IEC application is PAN-based, and business income from import-export activity is reported under this Act. This Act governs how such income is computed, taxed, and filed, and is why a valid PAN is mandatory for IEC registration.
Applies because import payments made and export proceeds received in foreign currency are regulated under this Act. It is relevant because banks require a valid IEC before processing inward or outward foreign remittances connected to trade transactions.
Applies because collecting KYC documents (PAN, Aadhaar, address proof, bank details) as part of IEC registration is a legal requirement under India's anti-money-laundering framework, particularly given the cross-border nature of the transactions the IEC enables.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at the location of CapitalBox's registered place of business.
12Amendments to These Terms
CapitalBox reserves the right to update or modify these terms, fees, or the scope of services at any time, including in response to changes in DGFT fee structures or filing requirements. Any material changes will be communicated through the website or other official channels, and continued use of the services after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13Customer Acknowledgement
By applying for services, the customer confirms that they have read and understood these terms, agrees to the applicable Service Fee, the separate Government (DGFT) fee, and the terms and conditions set out above, and authorizes CapitalBox to prepare, file, and coordinate the IEC registration process on their behalf.
